Choosing a photographer is one of the most important decisions you can make through your wedding planning process.
We want to offer you the resources to make this decision with full confidence and ease. As you may know, many photographers book up months in advance so it is necessary to consider these five tips when making this big decision!
1. Look at Online Portfolios
Do the images look like they were taken at a real wedding or styled shoot? Styled Shoots normally have the perfect lighting and perfect location so it can be hard to see how one works in many environments. It is so important to see ‘real wedding’ work to really understand how the photographer works in each and every condition. Sometimes it snows and sometimes it’s sunny so being sure your photographer is up for the challenge is ideal.
2. When Looking at their work, is it consistent?
Looking at all social media outlets like Facebook and Instagram including website are they all consistent and cohesive? This isn’t always an easy task when there is so much unknown on conditions or lighting on the wedding day. However, its possible and we strive for that consistency with each and every one of our wonderful couples.
3. Do they respond quickly?
How you are treated as a potential client is so very important. Ask yourself these questions; How quickly did they respond to your initial inquiry? How long did it take for you to meet the first time? This will show you how responsive the photographer is throughout the entire planning process including afterward while they are putting together your gallery.
4. Ask the planner & venue for the input!
Your venue and/or planner can be helpful resources when it comes to selecting your photographer. They work with so many different vendors that they normally know who the best are to work with. Both planners and venues can definitely give you some great insight.
5. Talk to the PHOTOGRAPHER!
This is most important. Many photographers will want to meet you to make sure you both are the ideal fit for one another either in-person, Skype or through FaceTime. This is a great opportunity for you to really get to know one another and be sure your personalities mesh. You can even take a look at their ‘about us’ section on their website to learn more about the people behind the camera. This will make the wedding day so much more fun and relaxed if you both start your working relationship as a new friendship!
Your wedding day memories are ones you will cherish for a lifetime while sharing with your closest friends and loved ones. We are so passionate when it comes to what we love to do. It’s your love that inspires and motivates us to make this process the most memorable experience for you.
